Nestled in California’s Central Valley, MBK Dale Commons is an assisted living and short-term senior living community owned and operated by MBK Senior Living. Recently, this community underwent a thoughtful transformation—evolving from an outdated Tuscan-inspired design into a peaceful, sophisticated “Serene Sanctuary.”
While the building’s charming Craftsman-style exterior remained untouched, the interior received a complete refresh focused on creating a calm, inviting atmosphere. This strategic approach allowed the budget to prioritize impactful interior updates designed to enhance daily life for residents and staff, while also appealing to families and prospective residents.
Every amenity was carefully reimagined to bring new life and function to the space. The lobby retained its original reception desk for budgetary reasons but redefined it with ADA-compliant, high-end quartz countertops, indigo-colored casework, an elegant tile façade, and graceful pendant lighting—creating a welcoming first impression that lingers.
In the Main Dining Room, custom hospitality carpet and modern, dimmable LED ring chandeliers highlight the dramatic two-story ceiling. The fireplace, once heavy and overpowering, was transformed with whitewashed stone and a refreshed mantle, introducing a bright and elegant focal point to the room.
The Bistro, a central hub for daily activity, was updated with durable luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring for ease of maintenance and flexible furniture arrangements. Freshly painted casework and new lighting complete the clean, inviting environment that encourages resident connection and community.
Upstairs, the Library, Theater, and Salon were revitalized with new flooring, fresh paint, updated artwork, and contemporary furniture. These enhancements transformed previously stagnant spaces into lively, sophisticated destinations that balance functionality with style.
The end result is a community reborn—each once-darkened area now feels bright, fresh, and engaging. Every shared space offers a unique “breath of fresh air,” contributing to a cohesive, serene environment. Today, MBK Dale Commons exudes a commanding yet tranquil personality, a place where both residents and staff can truly thrive.
The main areas included in the scope of work include :
After Reception:The original reception desk was thoughtfully reimagined—now featuring ADA-compliant quartz surfaces, refreshed indigo millwork, bold tile accents, and warm pendant lighting. The result is a welcoming, hospitality-inspired focal point that sets the tone from the moment you enter.
Before Reception: The former reception desk, with its imposing wood façade, certainly made a statement—but it also created a physical and visual barrier, standing in the way of a truly welcoming first impression.
After Living Room: Now bright and sophisticated, the space is thoughtfully elevated by a central TV wall framed with elegant arched bookcases. These curated displays do more than just decorate—they tell a story, creating a warm and welcoming sense of home.
Before Living Room: Before the transformation, this living room functioned well enough—but it lacked personality and impact. It was missing the bold, memorable elements that turn a space from simply livable into truly unforgettable.
After Dining Room: The refreshed dining area now features hospitality-inspired carpet, dimmable LED chandeliers, and thoughtfully varied seating arrangements—bringing together comfort, choice, and visual interest in a space designed to invite and inspire.
Before Dining Room: Once weighed down by dated Tuscan chandeliers and the ongoing maintenance they demanded, the dining space felt neglected and uninviting—far from the vibrant, functional hub it was meant to be.
After Private Dining Room: With a larger-scale patterned carpet, expanded from the dining room, sleek credenza, and a modern chandelier, the space strikes a balance of refined style and tranquil sophistication—bringing a sense of comfort and elevated scale to the experience.
Before Private Dining Room: The private dining space, though functional, felt dated, uninspired, and lacked luster.
After Bistro: The reimagined Bistro now features lighter wood tones, crisp white casework, modern lighting, and playful design details—transforming the space into a bright, welcoming, and versatile destination.
Before Bistro: The former Bistro, defined by dark wood finishes, dated carpet, and uninspired lighting, felt heavy and stagnant—lacking the energy and warmth that a true gathering space should offer.
After Library: The redesign thoughtfully retains the existing dark wood casework, pairing it with modern furniture, lighter carpet, fresh window treatments, and new artwork. The result is a balanced blend of classic charm and contemporary comfort, creating a warm, inviting space that encourages relaxation and connection.
Before Library: This library space, while functional, felt dated and uninspired. The dark wood built-ins and traditional furniture created a somewhat heavy atmosphere, lacking the warmth and inviting character needed to encourage longer, more comfortable visits.
After Theater: The redesign blends neutral tones with deep blue accents and thoughtfully arranged seating for 16, crafting a spacious, comfortable, and purposeful gathering space.
Before Theater: Previously a catch-all multipurpose room, the space lacked clear identity or intention. Furnished with pieces unsuited for extended use, it offered little in the way of comfort or functionality.
After Corridors: The update features soft neutrals with subtle blue accents, elegant sconces, and large artwork give the corridors identity and tranquility.
Before Corridors: The corridors felt impersonal, with sparse artwork and no clear wayfinding, leaving each hallway without character or identity.
