22 May Spring Color Mix- Mint Julep
As self-proclaimed foodies, our office is always sharing new recipes and ideas for festive parties and get-togethers, and no get-together is ever complete without a great cocktail!
In honor of horse racing season, we thought we’d share a great cocktail recipe AND a color pallet inspiration if you’re looking to do a little spring cleaning and liven up your space from “cozy” winter den to a “fresh” and fun family room.
We hope you love our Mint Julep inspiration and Recipe as much as we do!
Ingredients:
- 5 ounces bourbon
- 25-30 mint leaves
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- Ice cubes
- Crushed ice
For the Mint simple syrup
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup water
- 1 large bunch mint leaves
Instructions:
- First, make simple syrup but combining water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir until sugar has completely dissolved. Place mint leaves in an old mason jar (or another heatproof container) and pour the syrup over the leaves. Place in the jar in the fridge and let the leaves steep in the syrup for at least one hour. Strain the leaves form the liquid and set the syrup aside.
- Place your 25-30 mint leaves in a cocktail shaker and pour in 2.5 ounces of bourbon as well as one once simple syrup. Top with a few ice cubes and stir. Fill your chilled silver cup with ice halfway. Strain liquid from the cocktail shaker into silver cup. Pack crushed iced on top of the liquid to the top of the glass. Garnish with a spring of mint leaves and straw.
